KCCU Staff Take Giving Seriously

Thirty-seven consecutive years of 100% United Way participation.

Staff members of Kingston Community Credit Union are serious about their support for the United Way. For 37 years in a row, they have had one hundred percent participation by all staff members in their United Way Campaigns. Once again this year, KCCU has supported the local United Way campaign. Staff was approached and presented with information about the United Way and what it does and offered the opportunity to help. With the funds raised from the staff contributions, the money collected in each branch from our members and a donation of $2,530 from KCCU and the Board of Directors, this year’s total donation was $8,480.50.

This year, the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington had a goal of $3,451,000 and were able to surpass that with a total raised of $3,702,100. This money will go to help fund local charities and assist about 70,000 people in the local community.

The Credit Union business model focuses on maximizing benefit to the member and the community over profit. Members all participate in profit sharing annually. “Our business model attracts, encourages and rewards people who care about the community they live in and how to better it. Many of our staff members have been with us for a number of years and have become mentors,” said Maryann Halladay, Deputy CEO. “The younger staff members bring energy and new ideas which we appreciate and encourage.”
