‘Unparalleled’ donation sees community centre named after Meridian

Pelham’s new community centre officially has a name: Meridian Community Centre.

The announcement was made Thursday morning at the community centre at Highway 20 and Rice Road where donors, including Meridian Credit Union, gathered to celebrate. Meridian has made a $1-million contribution to the project.

The community centre features two arenas, several community rooms, a gymnasium and several other places visitors can gather and do various things.

Pelham’s Meridian Credit Union has been a part of the community since the 1970s, he said, although it was known by different names, including Fonthill Credit Union and then Pelham Credit Union.

Those “deep roots” have allowed the credit union to be engaged with the community.

Because of that, Wade Stayzer, SVP and Chief Member Experience Officer, said Meridian is thrilled to be able to partner up with the Town of Pelham on this project.
